2. The Service
Satbeams is an informational portal about geostationary and non-geostationary communications satellites. It aggregates and presents technical reference data including satellite positions, footprints, transponder and beam information, channel line-ups, operators and launch details. The Service is provided for general information and reference purposes only.
We may add, change, suspend or remove any part of the Service at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that the Service, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You may browse public areas of the Service without registering. Some features may require an account. If you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials confidential, and to be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to create an account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. In particular, you must not:
- use the Service in any way that breaches applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
- systematically extract, scrape, harvest or copy data from the Service to build or populate another database or product without our prior written consent;
- place unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or use automated means to access the Service in a manner that degrades it for others;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, the server on which it is stored, or any connected server, computer or database;
- introduce malware, or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Service; or
- reproduce, duplicate, resell or otherwise commercially exploit any part of the Service except as expressly permitted by these Terms or our Copyright policy.
5. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the Service and in the material published on it (including its selection, arrangement and compilation) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. Third-party names, logos and trade marks (including those of satellite operators and manufacturers) remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and reference only. Please see our Copyright policy for what you may and may not do with our content, and our Credits page for the sources we rely on.
6. Third-party data and links
The Service incorporates and links to data and resources provided by third parties (for example orbital data, operator information and channel data). We do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for third-party data or external websites, and access to them is at your own risk. The inclusion of any link or data set does not imply endorsement.
7. Accuracy and no reliance
While we take reasonable care to keep information current, the technical data on the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis and may be incomplete, out of date or inaccurate. You should not rely on it for operational, safety-critical, engineering, commercial or legal decisions without independent verification. Please read our Disclaimers, which form part of these Terms.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions (whether express or implied) relating to the Service, including any implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms affects statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Subject to that:
- we will not be liable for any loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- we will not be liable for loss of profit, business, goodwill, data or anticipated savings arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service; and
- if you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights under the law of your country of residence.
10. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms, you agree to indemnify us against reasonable losses, damages and costs we suffer as a direct result of that breach.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service (including any account) if you materially breach these Terms or where we are required to do so by law. You may stop using the Service at any time.
12. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of Belgium, and are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Belgium. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
