12 Ku-band and 12 C-band transponders to provide direct-to-home voice and video communications throughout India. Due to the power anomaly in one of the satellite's two solar panels 6 Ku-band and 6 C-band transponders were switched off so that there is enough power for the remaining 12 transponders (6 Ku and 6 C-band)
